PlanningWILLS & LASTING POWERS OF ATTORNEY

Planning during your lifetime

Lasting Powers of Attorney.
People you trust.

A Lasting Power of Attorney lets you appoint people to help with, or make, certain decisions on your behalf. We explain what the choices mean for you.

PROPERTY & FINANCIAL AFFAIRS

Looking after
money and property.

This LPA can cover tasks such as managing bank accounts, paying bills or dealing with your home. Once registered, it can be used with your permission while you still have capacity, depending on how it is made.

HEALTH & WELFARE

Decisions about
care and wellbeing.

This LPA covers matters such as care and medical treatment. It can only be used when you cannot make the relevant decision yourself.

Choosing the right arrangements

Paul explains the practical implications of your choices in straightforward language, helping you consider who to appoint and how you would like decisions to be made.

  • Choosing your attorneys and considering replacements.
  • Understanding how your attorneys can act together.
  • Discussing wishes, preferences and any instructions.
  • Understanding the signing, certificate provider and registration steps.

Take the first step while you can decide

You must have mental capacity to make an LPA. If you are unsure about the circumstances, raise this during your initial consultation so we can discuss the appropriate next step.

Clear costs before you proceed

We explain our proposed fees, what is included and any separate registration charges during your free initial consultation.

Your questions

Clear answers before you begin.

Is an LPA the same as a Will?

No. An LPA concerns decisions during your lifetime. A Will sets out wishes for your estate after death. We can help you consider both as part of your planning.

Can my spouse automatically manage everything for me?

Being married does not automatically give someone authority to make every financial or welfare decision for you. An LPA allows you to choose your attorneys and set out the arrangements.

Do I need both types of LPA?

The two types cover different decisions. You can make one or both; your consultation helps you understand the differences and consider what you need.
